lyrics

Capo 6th
C, G7? (I guess), Am, F

In tiny coffins they sleep
But they'll never dream of anything other than the flash of a barrel
They're not even 18
And they'll never be, and you'll say that's just the way things have to stay
Their parents can't sleep and it's hard for them to eat
Cuz their child isn't there to fill that empty chair
And children isn't the right word to speak
Cuz their innocence is gone with a bullet to the head from a gun

Tamir was only 12 and playing in the park
When a van pulled up and they shot him in the dark
A 14 year old boy by the name of Cameron
Was shot in an abandoned house in front of his brother
Aiyana Stanley-Jones was sleeping on her couch
She died at 7 when they broke in and shot her head
They killed Von-Derrit Myers with a sandwich in his hand
Shot seventeen times, one for each year that he lived

Little Andre Green was only 15 when they aimed their weapons at the car
They took him out, it wasn't hard
A year short of adulthood, Christopher Roupe
Was killed on his front porch, holding a Wii remote
At 19 months old, little baby Bou Bou
Was burned with a flash grenade during a violent raid
These children all died at the hands of murderers
Now what if I told you that the guns were held by officers

The police all did this and they kill hundreds more
And they never get in trouble, they're still on the force
These internal investigations, they're corrupt as the notion
That killing a child comes in the job description
In these tiny coffins, these children are still bleeding
The blood of the innocent, their parents are still weeping
Be critical of brutality, don't just stand and watch
Because something must be done to know these graves are never dug
