I believe in aliens
I wish that they could take me far away from here
Cuz vein here ain't all that great
It's not just me, it's every state
It's just the way things are
Children being shot and killed
By a badge and blue they feel
That a twelve year old threatened their life

I wait, I watch, but no such luck
I guess that I'm gonna have to stay
But I'll make the most of my days
And I'll fight for the things that I can change
It's gonna take a long time but I know that something better's on the way

I believe in ghosts
I wish that they could tell me all the things they've learned
From watching us so silently
Always seeing everything
I bet they know us better than ourselves
We're blinded by opinions
Preconceived notions of what everything's supposed to turn out to be
So I want to know what they do now, and how they pass the time floating around
I guess it's my turn now
To let you objectively know
The things that I've been told and have been shown
It's gonna bring you down but you'll understand it's worse than we've known

And we can't fix the mistakes that we've made
But at least we can still see that they were wrong
We can't bring back the people that were killed
But at least we will remember them in song
We can't kill everyone with a badge
But at least we can still hold them accountable
For the things they do and the things they say
They have to know that it's not okay
But it's gonna keep going on unless we make a really drastic change

I believe in monsters
I wish that other people could see them like I do
They're wearing suits and little pins
Of a flag I burned just last week
I know you hated that
If Donald Trump can speak at all
And fill up crowded speaking halls
I know that it's almost too late
But there's still kids like me who care
We call out shit we see and there's the reason to keep moving on
With burning the system down
I was told that you can't fight it with itself
There's only one way and it's anarchy for the rest of our days
